Affiliate disclosure

Relationships checked

BowlGrade currently earns nothing. No affiliate programme is live, no link on this site is paid, and no brand has any commercial relationship with us. This page explains what would change if that ever stops being true.

Nothing on this site is monetised today

The mechanics described below are the policy we will follow when a programme approves us. Until then there is nothing to disclose: no page carries an affiliate link, no link is tagged rel="sponsored", and the disclosure notices are switched off rather than shown over links that pay nothing. A disclosure on an unpaid link is not extra caution — it trains readers to ignore the notice on the day it matters.

How the links work

Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you click one and make a purchase or sign up, the merchant pays us a commission at no additional cost to you. These links are marked with rel="sponsored" and every page that contains them carries a disclosure notice above the first such link. Pages with no affiliate link carry no disclosure notice — they say instead that we have no commercial relationship with the brand, which is the more useful fact.

Which brands pay us, and which don't

As of , 7 of the 20 brands in this database have an affiliate programme we take part in: JustFoodForDogs, Nom Nom, Ollie, Spot & Tango, Sundays for Dogs, The Farmer's Dog, We Feed Raw.

The other 13 pay us nothing, and we have no relationship of any kind with them: Beneful, Diamond Naturals, Fromm, Hill's Science Diet, Natural Balance, Open Farm, Pedigree, Purina Dog Chow, Purina ONE, Purina Pro Plan, Royal Canin, Taste of the Wild, Zignature. Their foods — 94 of the 122 in the database — are collected, converted and published on exactly the same terms, in the same tables, with the same conversions applied.

Where no CTA appears at all

The transparency pages carry no affiliate link under any circumstances: the list of foods whose makers publish nothing, the corrections log, and this page. Monetising a page whose whole purpose is to be believed would cost more than it earns.

What this never changes

The data. Nutritional values come from manufacturers' published labels; recall records come from FDA sources; cost math follows the published methodology. Verdicts in comparisons are written from that data — several favour brands that pay us little or nothing, and brands with no affiliate programme are covered identically to brands with one. No manufacturer has paid for placement or previewed content.

There is no rating to buy. This site publishes no stars, scores or grades, so there is nothing for a commission to move — which is a structural answer to the question rather than a promise.

How outbound links are marked

Three kinds of outbound link, three treatments, stated so the marking reads as a decision rather than an oversight:

What happens when you click one

The destination merchant and its affiliate network may set cookies to attribute the referral. Their policies govern that data; we receive aggregate commission reports, never your personal details. The full account of what this site does and does not store is on the privacy page — it is short, because a static site with no accounts collects almost nothing.

Changes to this page

Merchant relationships change. When one starts or ends, the brand lists above change with it and the date at the top of this page moves; the change is logged with everything else on the corrections page. If anything here is ever out of date, tell us: [email protected].
